Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry has backed James' stance

After initially inviting the Warriors to visit the White House past year following their NBA Finals triumph over the Cavaliers, Trump rescinded the invite in September 2017.

Also on Friday, Trump said he would look at pardon applications suggested by National Football League players who protested during the anthem. President Donald Trump said Friday that neither team would be invited.

"I'm going to ask them to recommend to me people that were unfairly treated - friends of theirs or people that they know about - and I'm going to take a look at those applications", he said.

Last year, President Trump disinvited Curry and the Warriors after the Golden State superstar said he wouldn't go.

President Donald Trump said during a wide-ranging but impromptu back and forth with reporters today that he won't invite the victor of the National Basketball Association championship series to the White House - no matter who prevails between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers.

"It's typical of him", James said of cancelling the Eagles visit. "Like guys said before me, I'm sure whoever wins this series won't be going". "It won't be Cleveland or Golden State going", James said.

Earlier this week, both James and Curry said they were not expecting an invitation this year.

Later that day, Warriors point guard Steph Curry said he agreed with James.

In this instance, James came to the defense of Curry and the Warriors.

"Instead the decision was made to lie, and paint the picture that these players are anti-America, anti-flag and anti-military, " the Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins wrote in a statement posted to social media on Tuesday (NZT Wednesday).

Kerr was also asked about the reigning WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx, were apparently not invited to the White House to recognize their title.

"Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team".

"I think as long as he's in office, then the communication and things like that are going to continue to happen", the athlete said of Trump. "If they want to be here, it's the greatest place on Earth".
