Heating up close to records, plenty of sun for Memorial Day 2018

Last year, the day was decidedly cool with a high of 58 degrees. Temperatures will take a dramatic dip, with highs in the upper 60s.

High temperatures both days will be in near-record or record territory. By Tuesday, the chance for thunderstorms increases to 40 percent, mainly after 1 p.m. Look for highs of 87 degrees on a breezy day with wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour. Morning temperatures will range in the lower 70s, making it a warm one for any early morning Memorial Day services outside.

Overnight, expect mostly cloudy skies with mayyyybe a spot shower north of the Metro. Despite the drier conditions, lingering low clouds will continue mostly cloudy conditions for your Memorial Day. The better chance will be possible overnight into Wednesday morning.

"A moist easterly flow will keep light showers, drizzle and patchy fog across the region (Sunday night)", according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday, which is forecast to be cloudy with a high near 85, is expected to have a 70 percent chance of precipitation as well, so showers and thunderstorms are likely.

A 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for Friday, which is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 88. Those chances likely hang around for the 500 Festival Parade - but very much hit or miss - so need need for concern at this point, just be weather aware and have the Storm Track 8 Weather App handy if you are heading downtown.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. 92 is the record high set in 2012.
