Odds continue to increase for tropical system in the Gulf
If the storm becomes a rotating system with 39 miles per hour winds, it would take on the name Alberto and be the first of the 10 to 16 named storms predicted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration this year.
"The latest. Thursday runs of our top intensity models. predicted [the storm] could get considerably stronger than previously thought, with peak winds ranging from 40 mph.to 80 mph", writes Jeff Masters of the Weather Underground.

The storm is expected to become more organized as it moves north into the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and Sunday.
NHC rainfall maps predict a heavy concentration of rain in Florida and the south of Georgia, Alabama and MS as well as coastal parts of Louisiana. It starts out mostly cloudy, expect a few rounds of potentially heavy rain to push through.
This tropical system will likely remain weak, but it will bring in a lot of deep, tropical moisture from the Gulf into the Southeast. A ridge of high pressure will build in from the southwest, producing the hottest weather of the year so far.
