Lebanon's delegation said its Foreign Ministry had sent a letter to the International Criminal Court demanding it "undertake measures" to hold to account those responsible for the killings of Palestinians.

"We are appalled that Dr Tarek Loubani, a Canadian citizen, is among the wounded - along with so many unarmed people, including civilians, members of the media, first responders, and children".

Loubani, an emergency physician at Ontario's London Health Sciences Centre and at Shifa Hospital in Gaza, says he was shot in both legs Monday even though his team wore high-visibility jackets that identified them as medical staff.

Speaking at a news conference in Moscow, Lavrov said: "This is a blasphemous statement, which is meant to divert from an honest, serious conversation on the core of the problems that tear the Middle East region apart and do not let to execute the decisions of the UN General Assembly about the creation of Palestinian state".

On Wednesday, Israel seized upon remarks by a senior Hamas member who said 50 of the 62 Palestinians killed this week were members of the group, arguing it showed the protests were not peaceful.

The United States opened its new Israel embassy in Jerusalem on Monday.

On Monday, thousands of Palestinians participated in demonstrations in Gaza to protest the relocation of the USA embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

For over half a century, since the 1967 war, Israel has occupied and dominated the territories of the West Bank and Gaza.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau encountered strong criticism on Thursday over his earlier statement condemning the violence on the Israel-Gaza Strip border.

Haley, however, blamed the violence on "those who reject the existence of the state of Israel". Cairo continues to insist on the need to reduce the degree of tension on the border of the Gaza strip and Israel, and requires leaders from the Gaza strip to prevent direct clashes between the participants of the "March" with Israeli soldiers.
