Black Panther, Avengers help boost Cineworld revenues

"I've said it before and I'll say it again".

Although the weekly cumulative figures for Infinity War won't be officially confirmed until Thursday afternoon, the New Zealand Screen Association's box-office report from the past weekend estimated its reported official haul up until Sunday night as $8,900,503, edging just ahead of original Avengers movie's $8,818,551, recorded in 2012.

Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and recently starred in Avengers: Infinity War, took to Instagram to thank fans for their support of Avengers: Infinity War. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

There are SPOILERS for Infinity War below, so read ahead at your own risk. I'm not saying that Black Panther was a film aimed squarely at the African and African-American communites, but it is most definitely a result of the combined power of the creatives in those communites to a degree that is truly subversive in this day and age.

Nutshell - The ultimate bad guy Thanos has been positioning himself over the last 18 Marvel movies and now he is ready to strike.

Tony Stark's hesitation to contact Steve Rogers is directly due to events in Captain America: Civil War.

A producer at Marvel Studios has said we will have to "bid a fond farewell" to some characters after Avengers 4. He needs 6 infinity stones in his glove like gauntlet to rule the entire universe and all that is between him and his dastardly plan is every superhero you can possibly think of. And from a business perspective, it's a way to get newer audiences to catch up on those movies, through home video and on-demand options, and become newly invested in the MCU, thereby creating newer fans of the upcoming Marvel movies.

British exhibition giant Cineworld Group, which earlier this year closed its acquisition of Regal Entertainment Group, on Wednesday reported higher revenue for the January-May 13 period, driven by the box-office success of Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. All you legends who went out and saw the film, thank you so much!

The currently-untitled Avengers 4 features a cast made up of numerous key players in Infinity War - alongside newcomers like Brie Larson and Evangeline Lilly - and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
