HBO and Sky have partnered on a four-part documentary - The Case Against Adnan Syed about the disappearance of high school student Hae Min Lee and the subsequent conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed.

The Serial podcast left an open-ended finale in December 2014 and was followed-up by another podcast, which led to a book titled "Adnan's Story" by Adnan Syed's family friend, Rabia Chaudry, who is an attorney and US Institute of Peace senior fellow.

If, like me, you were left with ALL the questions after binging your way through the entirety of crime podcast Serial, you'll be interested to know that a brand new televised documentary series has been announced. The Court of Special Appeals also ruled to vacate Syed's conviction and granted a retrial on March 29, 2018.

HBO makes an interesting claim: that "the outcome" of Adnan's case will "possibly [be] shaped by the investigation pursued within the series itself".

For those who were consumed with this story, HBO and Sky said the series will include "ground-breaking revelations that challenge the state's case".

The podcast Serial was inspired by a documentary reality series about a mysterious death, and now the crime covered in Serial is becoming a documentary reality series.

"We'll be offering viewers a compelling window into one of the most talked about murder cases in recent years", Sky's director of programming Zai Bennett told Variety.

Nick Cave will be scoring original music for the series.

Syed nonetheless insists he has nothing to do together with her homicide, 20 years after she was discovered useless.

The executive producers are Henrietta Conrad and Jemima Khan for Instinct Productions and Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan and Andrew Stearn for Working Title TV.
