Sony Will Stop making PlayStation Vita Physical Games

Stardew Valley Arrives on PS Vita in May

Stardew Valley PS Vita release date confirmed

According to a report by Jason Schreier, editor of Kotaku, the representatives of Sony in the United States and Europe confirmed that the cessation in the manufacture of physical games for PS Vita already has a definite date. According to Kotaku, Sony's United States and European branches "plan to end all Vita GameCard production by close of fiscal year 2018", which ends on March 31, 2019.

In an e-mail to Kotaku, the company announced that developers must submit all Vita product code requests by June 28, along with final purchase orders by February 15, 2019.

With Sony's fiscal year ending on March 31, 2019, that's not a lot of time for Vita developers to get their games ready. Sony eventually stopped showcasing new PS Vita games in its press conferences, with the release of the PS4 completely overshadowing the console. What do you think about the decision of Sony? The handheld was said to bring console gaming on the go and had an unbelievable PS4 remote play feature which I personally still use and still works great. Sony made things worse by making the portable console only support expensive proprietary memory cards and giving the system a price tag higher than what many gamers would pay. However, this does not mean the outright death of the portable console, as digital distribution will continue for new PlayStation Vita games.

The system originally launched back in 2012, where it received a mixed reception from fans.

If you've played Stardew Valley, chances are you understand why so many people love the game.
