Royal wedding may bring big economic boost for UK

Your wedding should be full of your closest friends and family

Harry and Meghan are right to choose who they want- and don't want- at their wedding

The retired television cinematographer had been due to walk his daughter down the aisle Saturday at Windsor Castle's St. George's Chapel.

However, according to showbiz website TMZ, he has now decided not to travel to the ceremony on Saturday because he does not want to embarrass the royal family or Meghan.

Kensington Palace issued a statement Monday following a report Meghan Markle's father wont attend her wedding to Prince Harry.

The poll by polling firm YouGov showed that 57 percent of respondents believed the royal family should pay not only for the wedding but also for the costs of police.

Mr. Markle is claimed to have worked with a paparazzo to pose for a series of photos showing him getting measured for a suit and sitting at an internet cafe.

With just days to go before the royal wedding, Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, has taken center stage. Thomas says the paparazzi agency approached him, offered him money - though nowhere near the reported $100,000 - and he figured there was no harm in it and it would help recast his image.

Thomas Markle is not the first person to be bruised in the collision between Britain's royal family and the media - a relationship that is deep, complex and sometimes toxic.

Almost two weeks ago, Kensington Palace confirmed that the former lighting director in Hollywood ― who now lives a low-key life in Rosarito, Mexico ― would be walking his daughter down the aisle on May 19.

Meghan Markle's half-sister told TMZ that she arranged to allow Rayner to take pictures of him.

A friend of Miss Markle, 36, and her fiancé, Prince Harry, told the Mail that she was standing by her father and pleaded for understanding, saying he was "not in a good place".

She also reportedly told her father that she didn't care about the paparazzi photos.

However, she did acknowledge that the situation has put Kensington Palace in an "awkward" situation, given that they had emailed the press just days earlier asking them to give Meghan's family privacy.

"I have to say I am entirely the culprit", she admitted. Not surprisingly, Samantha has not been invited to the wedding.

However, there are some reports the father-of-the-bride didn't actually have a health scare.

At a launch event for her SAVAGE X Fenty lingerie line, an Access reporter asked the 30-year-old if she'll be attending the royal wedding, to which to she responded: "So, is that really coming up, like soon or something?"

So why did Mr Markle pull out at such short notice? He met Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, at a Hollywood studio in the late 70s but the pair split when their daughter was still young. "I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle", he said, adding, "Of course I'd walk her down the aisle".

The couple are due to Wednesday this Saturday, 19 May.
