With Fujairah he left the club after failing to secure promotion to the UAE's top flight in April.

Argentinian legend Diego Maradona has been named as the chairman of a football club in Belarus, according to reports.

Maradona was linked initially with a return to the Fujairah hot-seat in a frenzied few days following his departure, but has now made the unlikely move to board level at Brest.

"Yes, Diego's with us!" the club wrote on its official Twitter account late Tuesday, following media rumours over the weekend.

"The Argentinean has signed a three-year contract with FC Dynamo Brest and has become Chairman of the Management Board of the club".

"Thanks for the trust". At Dynamo Brest, he will deal with strategic development and follow the development of youth football.

The 57-year-old will take charge of Dynamo, who are eighth in their league, after the conclusion of this year's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Dinamo Brest are now at the eighth spot in the Belarusian Premier League, the team will take on BATE Borisov in the cup final on Saturday.
