Premier League: Jose Mourinho's assistant Rui Faria set to leave Manchester United at end of season

Although Carrick has not featured much for United this season, it has been confirmed that he will definitely play in his sides final Premier League fixture of the season against Watford at Old Trafford tomorrow so that he can receive a fitting final send off.

Once described by former United captain Nemanja Vidic as "the glue that holds it all together", Carrick said he was looking forward to a new role in the dugout next to the club's manager Jose Mourinho.

"When he has his pro licence, when he makes the bridge from player to assistant".

"My heartfelt thanks go to the manager, Jose Mourinho, for the belief he had in me, all those years ago, when it all was just a student dream".

"On behalf of the players, all the staff, the manager and the coaching staff, we'd like to thank you for all your support again this year".

Though, they still have a shot at winning silverware this summer as they clash against Chelsea in the FA Cup final next weekend at the Wembley Stadium.

"Martial is injured", said Mourinho.

"And I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone". I would like to thank him for the opportunity and confidence, for the knowledge and experience, but most importantly for his friendship.

But Mourinho insisted his absence was purely down to an injury that could also see him miss next Saturday's showpiece.

Mourinho is expected to have Romelu Lukaku back for the match, though, following a two-week spell on the sidelines since damaging his ankle against Arsenal. "Injured Friday in a training session, yesterday couldn't train. He'll teach me some things and we're going to have some success in the near future, I'm certain of that". "He had treatment in the morning at the training round and he stayed away".

"I'm waiting for the doctor but when it's impossible to play today, I have my doubts [for the cup final]".

"I've already spoken many times with the owner".

"I'm sure the owner will try to improve the level of the squad and the team, try to improve the position in the table".
