"With the AMG GT S Roadster, our AMG GT family has gained another exceptionally sporty member that combines high driving dynamics with an emotional open-air experience", says Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

"The new model represents the ideal alternative for the performance-oriented AMG GT Roadster customer". It completes the standard GT range with the Convertible only missing an "R" variant. Talking about numbers, you get 515bhp and 670Nm which enables the vehicle to hit 100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds and top out at nearly 310 kmph. Top speed for the GT S is 192 miles per hour, compared to 196 miles per hour for the GT C and 188 miles per hour for the standard auto.

Four-wheel steering is also an option; the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the fronts at low speeds to aid manoeuvrability, but turn in the same direction at higher speeds to boost stability. The S uses an electronically controlled rear differential. The rear-mounted 7-speed transmission is connected to the engine by a torque tube. The best news is that the AMG Ride Control active suspension is standard equipment.

The naming convention follows that of the AMG GT coupe: GT, GT S, GT C and GT R. The performance specifications for the GT S Roadster include the same 4.0-liter biturbo V8 as the GT and the GT C roadsters with a horsepower rating of 515, right between the 469 hp of the base model GT and the 550 hp of the GT S.

Mercedes-AMG offer the AMG high-performance composite braking system as standard with an AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system available as an optional extra. The AMG GT S Roadster brings the grand total of AMG GTs up to 12: four two-door Coupés, three Roadsters, two customer sports racing cars and three four-door Coupés.

First deliveries are in July 2018 with the order books open immediately!
