Uttarakhand, J&K and Himachal likely to face thunderstorm: IMD

Thunderstorm and squall likely in north Indian hill states from Sunday predicts IMD

Humidity during the morning hours was recorded at 60 per cent, a MeT official said.

Power supply was affected in many areas in Delhi and Gurugram in Haryana.

However, parts of the national capital did see some rains with the Palam observatory recording 4 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The Delhi Police said two people were killed during the dust storm and 18 were injured.

Delhi Metro operations were also hit.

However, be it the upcoming Monsoon or high-velocity duststorms, it will give no relief to people in Vidarbha, parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The DMRC also said service between Inderprashtha and Karol Bagh (on the Blue line) were not available from 5.15 pm due to a tree falling on the overhead electricity (OHE) wires of the up section of the line (towards Dwarka) between Rajiv Chowk and RK Ashram.

"Western Disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir have begun to weaken and is moving eastwards". There is a likelihood of light rains with thunder towards the afternoon or evening for two more days.

Earlier, IMD predicted that hill-states are likely to witness thunderstorm accompanied with a squall.

# 05:04 PM: Haryana: Skies in Faridabad turn dark as strong winds and dust storm hit the region. People were more fearful this time as similar conditions in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh had claimed almost 100 lives only a week ago.

According to ANI, the storm disrupted an event being attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in IP Extension when the winds blew off parts of the stage. Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds are also likely at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Odisha, Maharashtra, among other states. "So, there will be significant decrease in thunderstorm activity over north-western states until 13 May, when a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the West Himalayan region and cause thunderstorms in north region", said an IMD official.
