Bloodstained 8-Bit Spin-Off Curse Of The Moon Out This Month

13 May 2018, 03:29 | Jodi Jackson

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon launches on Switch and 3DS on May 24

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is a beautiful 80s throwback releasing this month

Backers have been asked to specify which platform they would like to access the spin-off game on, but they found out the hard way that GOG.com was not one of those platforms.

Koji Igarashi, a Japanese developer who is well-known for his work on the Castlevania series and is now developing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, talked about the upcoming spin-off in an official trailer. Igarashi crowdfunded Bloodstained on Kickstarter, and an 8-bit demake was one of the stretch goals as part of that campaign. Parallel to that, Koji Igarashi's Castlevania throwback is set for a release too.

The indie studio will be releasing a spin-off title called Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon as announced at the BitSummit indie games show in Kyoto.

BloodStained: Curse of the Moon will be available May 24th on the Playstation 4, PC, PS Vita, Switch, and Xbox One for $9.99.

We get to see the four main characters in action, Miriam, Zangetsu, Alfred, and Gebel, in environments that definitely feel familiar.

The 8-bit retro-style action game was developed by game creator Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates.

He will meet travellers on the way who can join your journey as playable characters, and who have unique abilities that will help you to unlock new paths. Recruitment choices matter, as each character will change the difficulty of the game, and possibly affect the ending.

"Also just a reminder that 505 Games isn't involved with "Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon". It has a lot of retro charm, and I had a great deal of fun with it.
