Google has begun requiring that OEMs roll out regular security patches
Once rolled out, you can get access to the time spent on your phone, how frequently you use different apps, and how many notifications you get. Today, the brand new version of the YouTube cellular program started rolling out, which included several features in keeping with this new motif. Whether I'm catching up on Good Mythical Morning with my cereal before work or taking a break to see what's going on with 368, I often find myself glued to my phone going through everything new in my subscription feed.
The problem with Android is that there are so many companies out there who make Android-based handsets, which means that not only is it confusing for users to choose from, but they will also need to take into consideration about which OEM might be the most reputable for pushing out timely updates.
The update, which was first announced at Google I/O 2018, also lets users turn off notification sounds during certain times of the day.
One of the YouTube-specific features was titled take a break, with which you could schedule custom breathers as often as you want, pausing what you're now watching and encouraging you to step away.
These new features will not be the final ones from Google created to help make people shut down their phone for just a little while. Other features coming down the pike include Program Timers, which will let you set time limits on using apps, and Shush, which should stop all alarms and vibrations whenever a telephone is put on a table or other surface with down the screen.
