LG launches Google Assistant on AI TV line-up

Google pitches artificial intelligence to help unplug people from smartphones

Tech-giant Google kicked-off its annual I/O developer conference in Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California with an interesting demonstration of its latest version of Google Assistant.

Are you addicted to your phone? The feature is now only available for Google Assistant on Android phones but is expected to roll out for iOS later this year.

An update for Google Maps also will be coming which will give the user a "For You" tab, that will show them new businesses in their area and also the trending restaurants.

At Google I/O today, CEO Sundar Pichai said these controls are all part of the company's new "digital wellbeing" initiative, which is created to help consumers keep their tech habits in check.

On desktop Google Chrome, this feature was promised to us past year in the form of a Picture-in-Picture Web API specification. But in an iPhone X, there is a relatively complex procedure, like you have to on the screen of the application and a button appears and then you are able to close or navigate between the applications. Google claims that the Assistant will come to its mapping service, Google Maps, making your navigation much easier.

Android will show you how often you are using specific apps in the app utility dashboard.

Android Auto enable the user to mirror phone to the infotainment system and uses functions like calls, sms, navigation, music and more to be used from the system itself which improves the concentration of the driver on road and reduce the use of phone while driving. A second swipe up will reveal all the apps on your phone. However, users may have other reasons for closing apps - call it old habits or wanting a clean smartphone interface - and Google seems to be taking that feedback seriously. Now in Google I/O 2018, Google announced a rather impressive and smooth new feature for Google Lens.

Google plans to test the technology in the summer. In recent months, university students and investors have also called on Apple to offer more tools that can limit iPhone use, and thereby prevent social media from overtaking people's lives.

The company felt the app, originally launched around 15 years ago badly needed a revamp, plus the issue of fake news had to be addressed to ensure only reliable information reaches the public at large.
