Now, the most contentious matter doing the rounds on the social media platform revolves around a humble poppy seed muffin.

Unfortunately, many people seem to have missed the CDC's larger message because they were too disturbed by the fact that their favorite muffin was just ruined.

The centers for disease control is now apologizing for a tweet it sent out earlier this week.

Others pointed out that this was a good way to get people's attention and raise awareness of an important issue.

"Can you spot all five ticks in this photo?" The tweet also included a link to their website to learn about preventing tick bites.

But the CDC's tick-laden muffin presented an entirely distinct problem for Twitter users, left to forever associate the delicious dots on poppyseed muffins with disease-ridden ticks.

The CDC responded by saying, "Sorry we ticked some of you off".

Fleas and ticks can spread serious illnesses to dogs and cats, including Lyme disease, which can be fatal to our four-legged friends.

As the weather starts to move farther away from winter and closer to summer, experts are warning people about tick risks.
