We didn't hand title to Manchester City- Mourinho

United's comeback at the Etihad from a 2-0 half-time deficit offered their supporters a rare fillip of flair and excitement after a hard season where their style of play has hardly endeared Jose Mourinho to the club's fanbase.

Manchester United handed the Premier League title to Manchester City on Sunday after a woeful performance in a surprise 1-0 defeat at home by bottom club West Bromwich Albion.

The commentariat will no doubt point towards Pogba's substitution as further evidence of some imaginary rift between himself and Mourinho, but the fact of the matter is that any member of either midfield or attack could have deservedly been taken off against West Brom.

And Mourinho said the past seven days have highlighted what needs to change if they are to win the league next season.

"I won eight titles and I am not [over] the moon because I won against Manchester City", he added.

Signing a left-back is a priority for Mourinho this summer, and it appears that United manager has found his man.

West Brom picked up their victory over United thanks to a poacher's goal from Jay Rodriguez.

They have lost their last 14 games against City.

Mourinho substituted Paul Pogba before the hour mark and threw on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as he went in search of a goal. United are banned from doing anything but losing at Stamford Bridge under the unwritten law which also forbids United to do anything other than get hammered when they play Tottenham away, one the Reds have faithfully abided by in recent seasons, including this January.

"I have won titles, I would not be happy if someone say won title if someone lose a match". Spurs dominated the proceedings during United's previous visit to Wembley in the Premier League, and though the fixture is considered a neutral venue this time around, their rivals should have the ascendancy with the better feel of the surroundings.

"I saw lots of people [over] the moon because we won against City".

"We were masters in complicated football", he said. "One more touch to control the ball, one more flick, one more trick".

To stand any chance of staying in the Premier League, West Brom would likely have to win every one of their remaining fixtures.

"We couldn't play fast, we couldn't think fast, everything was complicated".

"They won the title because they were the best team, because they won a great amount of points".

"Man United are the biggest club in the world".
