A week later than they would have preferred, Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions as second-placed Manchester United suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to bottom club West Bromwich Albion.

Vinny sounds determined to buck the trend of champions underachieving the year after, something City have had happen to them twice, and wants the Blues to be ready for another assault on the title next season. The current domestic season has been nothing short of phenomenal for Pep Guardiola's men as they have broken record after record since the beginning of the campaign and still looks strong to break several other long-standing Premier League records.

Kompany and co. have the opportunity to secure the highest number of wins, points and goals scored in a Premier League season.

"The first one was special but this one is perhaps the one I'm most proud of". Here are five players that helped them win the league.

"We played so good in many games", Guardiola said.

Fuelled by the majestic form of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, City set a new Premier League record earlier this season by winning 18 successive matches.

"It is the same feeling as the first time, you can't describe it", Kompany said. They are able to win their games - all six.

"It shows what football is in Manchester. It's a privilege to be a part of this team".

Kompany says that he had a feeling today would be the day his side were confirmed as top dogs, and he is now hoping that City can become the first side to win back-to-back crowns since Man United between 2006 and 2008.

While Pep Guardiola was busy playing golf and claimed he wasn't going to watch United's match against West Brom, Vincent Kompany was seen watching - and celebrating - the Baggies' win.

"You can not imagine", Guardiola said on Saturday. There was a period of adaptation for him coming into the league and for us taking in his methods.

'I'd like to stay humble, it's not a dynasty, it's just one title.

"He has been able to transfer to the team that hunger and desire to never be satisfied".

City's title is the 24th trophy of his glittering career.

"We were able to play at the level that we are expected to perform at and I think the previous times when we have won it a lot of times you can actually say that we almost through it away".

The 32-year-old who has been nominated for this year's PFA Player of the Year was holding his child while wearing a hospital gown in the photo.

"This club is absolutely fantastic in all terms".
