Unfortunately, October turned out to be lowest first day collection for a Varun Dhawan film. "Playing a flawed human being is a tough achievement to play it flawlessly is even tougher". Directed by Shoojit Sircar, it earned just Rs. 4.5 cr on its first Friday, for being a niche film.

Varun wrote about the warm reviews his "small film with a large heart" has been getting, noting the film's 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "Also, I had not seen his films". "Good thing about Varun Dhawan, despite his success with films, for him to do this kind of film, an unusual and unconventional story, that is really courageous", he said.

Produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar, October stars Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu.

"#October shows a SUPER 48.21% GROWTH on Sat. Metros/plexes are clearly contributing heavily to the revenue". The actor has been receiving rave reviews for his act as Dan, a hotel management trainee, from both critics and fellow actors.

The Bollywood fraternity has congratulated Varun Dhawan, Banita Sandhu and director Shoojit Sircar for the positive reception of their new movie, October. Should continue the upward trend on Sunday.

October tells the story of Dan, whose life changes after his acquaintance Shiuli, undergoes a bad accident. Boxofficeindia.com further stated that the film is expected to get more audience on their second day, but it wouldn't be an extraordinary rise in collection. Screenplay of the film is very detailed but does not have too many plot points which might not be appreciated for a single screen audience who otherwise are very fond of Varun.
