He's presently recovering from a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle sustained in PSG's win over Marseille in February, but according to the former Barcelona man his season isn't over.

The Brazil global required surgery after suffering the injury in the Ligue 1 win over Marseille in February and has since missed the French giants' last nine matches in all competitions.

PSG coach, Emery Unai, said earlier Friday that Neymar was "close" to returning to the club.

Real have been consistently linked with a move for Neymar with reports suggesting he is disdapointed with the standard of French football since moving last summer. "Messi saw that I was upset and he started to talk to me: 'you have to be yourself, play your football, and don't let yourself get intimidated'".

"He could possibly play in the final matches of the season".

A productive first season in France came to a halt when Neymar suffered his setback, a similar injury that befall compatriot Gabriel Jesus, who missed 10 weeks for Manchester City last season.

"The speed of recuperation over the next ten days will allow the club to set a date for the player's return to training".

If his recovery continues as scheduled, Neymar should be fit in time to take his place in Brazil's squad for the 2018 World Cup finals.

Although PSG are yet to clinch top spot in Ligue 1, a win against champions Monaco on Sunday would be enough to snatch back the title - and only then will Emery discuss his situation.
