Russian Federation and Iran have warned of "consequences" as North Atlantic Treaty Organisation said all 29 member states were behind the airstrikes in Syria. The countries targeted Damascus and surrounding areas in response to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons capabilities following a chemical attack last week which killed at least 60 people.

Pence says he's hopeful that Russian Federation and Iran will "once and for all abandon chemical weapons" against innocent civilians.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged the members of the organisation to show moderation in the prevailing "dangerous" climate and to respect worldwide law.

"I call on the members of the Security Council to unite and exercise that responsibility", Guterres said.

Representatives of the U.K, France and the USA will inform the council about the airstrikes in Syria, the source added.

On April 7, the volunteer organizations reported that the chemical attack at Douma, the East Ghouta took place. This legally questionable action risks escalating further, as US Defence Secretary James Mattis has admitted, an already devastating conflict and therefore makes real accountability for war crimes and use of chemical weapons less, not more likely'.

"Last year (US) President Donald Trump said that the use of chemical weapons would violate a red line".

Public radio said that Israel had been informed ahead of time of the strikes that were carried out by the United States, France and Britain.

On April 9, seven Iranian personnel were among 14 people killed in an early-morning strike on the T-4 airbase in Syria, with regime allies Iran and Russian Federation blaming Israel for the attack.
