A rivalry rekindled Yankees Red Sox brawl at Fenway Park

The plunking came a day after Yankees utilityman Tyler Austin charged the mound after getting hit by a Joe Kelly pitch to spark a benches-clearing brawl.

Tempers were already frayed because of an earlier incident in the match on Wednesday night. Tyler Austin, the Yankees DH, would start the fire with a hard slide into second base during the third inning. "I had some ideas how, if I got the job, I was going to improve a few things that were going on here".

Kelly, Austin, Boston manager Alex Cora and NY third-base coach Phil Nevin also were fined. Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez had to leave the game after he was hit by a pitch on his left elbow in the first inning.

Each player was fined an undisclosed amount, the Major League Baseball announced on Thursday. "That's what they got", Boston starter David Price said.

The Yankees and Red Sox start the final game of their three-game series at Fenway Park in just over an hour, so that should be interesting. "But I just wanted him to know that it was a bad slide, and I think everyone on the field knows that it was, and I think he knows that now, too". When Austin stepped back up to the plate in the seventh, he was hit in the back with a fastball from Red Sox reliever Joe Kelly.

However, Kelly and Austin will be eligible to play on Thursday after appealing the sanction.

Trying to hit Kelly, Austin instead tagged Red Sox third base coach Carlos Febles.

"I had it as three or four rows in the seats", Stanton said. He allowed just the two hits, hit a batter, struck out six and had no walks.

Yankees: OF Aaron Hicks (right intercostal strain), was 1 for 3 with a double in his second rehab start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Red Sox eventually responded by signing J.D. Martinez, the only power hitter in the game whose numbers approached those of Stanton or Judge. The model is predicting Porcello to strike out five Yankees in six innings.

He continued: "Everybody is out here trying to play the game and make a living for themselves and their families". In 114 appearances with Boston (41 starts, 73 relief appearances), Kelly owns a 22-9 record with a 4.37 ERA.
