Memo warning Apple employees about leaking gets leaked to the me
15 April 2018, 03:41 | Justin Tyler
Apple in a lengthy memo posted to its internal blog said it ‘caught 29 leakers,’ last year and 12 of them were arrested
"12 of those were arrested", read the memo. Now, Apple Store employees have admitted that the Cupertino-based company is hiring external contractors to assist the Apple Store employees. They also state that once a leaker is fired, Apple will try hard to make finding employment elsewhere almost impossible. Apple has sent a caution to the employees on the consequences of the privacy breach in the memo. No, it's evil journalists that are making them do awful things. On the last earnings call, CEOTim Cook reported iPhone sales declined by 1%.
Yeah, those sons-of-bitches in the Fourth Estate are behind this.
Over the last few years, Apple has successfully persuaded its customers to increase what they pay for phones from an average of somewhere around $600 to almost $800. A scoop about an unreleased Apple product can generate massive traffic for a publication and financially benefit the blogger or reporter who broke it.
Apple has been assembling the iPhone SE in India since May previous year and is now in talks with its component vendors and contract manufacturers such as Flex, Foxconn and Wistron to expand local sourcing of inputs, the Economic Times added. That, Apple continued, would fundamentally weaken the security of its products, opening them up not just to legal searches but malicious hackers and governments, including mass surveillance programs.
It makes sense why a company such as Apple wants to keep its product details private until they are primed for release to the public.
"The impact of a leak goes far beyond the people who work on a project", the leaked memo includes.
Then it crows about how much money and effort it has put into surveilling its own staff. But people who leak - whether they're Apple employees, contractors or suppliers - do get caught and they're getting caught faster than ever.
A report indicated last month that Apple was planning a new gold color of the iPhone X as an effort to restore sales of the flagship. It could release it there, but the chances of that happening are fairly low. There's evidence to support the latter: The FCC filing was created last August and submitted in September, four days before the iPhone X was announced.
