Fulham only managed to daw 1-1 against the Brentford at Craven Cottage, now meaning they can not catch Nuno Espirito Santo's team.

The Midlanders have led by example in the Championship this season despite irking rivals over their relationship with agent Jorge Mendes.

They were among the favourites to achieve promotion in 2018 having spent heavily, including signing Porto's Ruben Neves for £15.8 million.

Neves produced one of the moments of the season in midweek with a sensational 30-yard wonder strike to see off Derby County 2-0.

However, Wolves' big spending has provoked complaints for other sides in the league.

It had appeared as though Wolves would have to wait until Sunday to confirm promotion after Fulham took a 70th-minute lead through Aleksandar Mitrovic.

They have won 28 out of their 42 Championship games this weekend and have lost just six.

As things stand, Cardiff City sit in the second automatic promotion spot, while Fulham, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Millwall occupy the play-off spots.

However, Derby's playoff push suffered another setback when they were beaten 3-1 at relegation threatened Burton.

Whether it be who finishes in the top six, or who gets relegated, talkSPORT is the place to follow all the latest Championship news.
