Google Assistant is now supported natively on the iPad

Google Assistant has been out for some time now on Android and was welcomed to the iPhone a year ago. Like all digital assistants except Siri, the app must be manually opened on the iPad and can not be summoned in the background as on Android devices. Not much, as Google obviously wants to keep the Assistant experience as similar as possible across both platforms. Also, the iPad version of the Assistant also supports iOS 11's multitasking mode, which allows it to run side-by-side with other apps on Apple's tablet.

In addition to Android tablet support, Google's also rolling out the red carpet for the iPad.

Assistant for iPad will work same as in iPhone. For instance, Amazon has just announced its Alexa app for tablets, including iPad.

As with all other non-Siri AI, Apple limits Google Assistant's functionality to its app, but that may not be as big of a problem with multitasking. With Google Assistant on the iPad, users will be able to set reminders and calendar events, ask for answers to questions, check the weather, and even control smart home accessories.

Google Assistant for iOS is not the same as in Android due to API restrictions. The app has been updated to automatically fit all iPad model displays.

New reports have suggested that Google Assistant has now found a new home as it's being welcomed on the iPad.
