That is all standard fare of a subscription within a free to play game, but where things get odd are with the addition of "Plus Assistant".

Purchases of The International Battle Pass had been used to generate a prize pool for Valve's annual Dota 2 world championships tournament, The International, with 25 per cent of proceeds put towards the fund; The International 2017 awarded prize money from a US$24.7 million purse.

Valve has unveiled a new subscription service for Dota 2, and they call it Dota Plus.

The ongoing service from Valve is one that's said to provide "both progression and opportunities for improvement" for players. Test your skills by completing hundreds of new Challenges of varying difficulties.

Dota Plus subscribers will also have access to a "Death Summary" screen providing "a second-by-second timeline of incoming damage, stuns, and other disabling effects" in real-time, and a "Lane Strategy" feature with team-wide suggestions for lane configurations.

In addition, the update sees the return of the Battle Cup, which DOTA Plus subscribers will have access to, with non-subscribers paying $0.99 per week to participate.

The Dota Plus monthly subscription service has been added as a result of the recent introducing of the Pro Circuit, and it will offer services without interruption. Each level and tier grants Reward Shards and new Hero Chat Wheel responses, respectively.

For a more detailed rundown on Dota Plus, visit the official site here.

The new subscription option rolls out today for $3.99 a month. You'll earn shards, which is a new currency for unlocking rewards.

Dota Plus is available for $3.99 a month, though discounts are also available for players who want to go ahead and subscribe for either six months or a year. During Dota 2 matches, the tool uses data gathered from the whole of past Dota 2 games to indicate items that best suit a player's current loadout and suggest ability upgrades based on current in-game situations.
