Man Utd contact Neymar: Jose Mourinho desperate to land PSG star

"I would love to have him in my team, I would always have Neymar in my XI".

While the rumours surrounding a player of his standing will continually spiral, given the amount of highly publicised rifts Neymar Jr has already been involved in at the club, it is not inconceivable that he will try to force a move back to Spain sooner rather than later.

The former Real Madrid striker had similar problems in 2002 but warned the Paris Saint-Germain ace to be cautious.

Neymar could join Barcelona or Real Madrid in the summer with his long-term future at PSG far from certain.

"I think he will stay", Mourinho told La Sexta ahead of Tuesday's Champions League meeting with Sevilla.

Real Madrid are also in the running for the winger, with Florentino Perez a huge admirer of Neymar, who he almost signed before he joined Barca.

"There was also the talk about stepping out of the shadows of Lionel Messi, but really?"

"If it was up to me, I'd open Camp Nou's doors to him right now".

Asked about the speculation on Friday, Real coach Zinedine Zidane said, "Neymar could play in all the clubs because he is very good, like many players".

Neymar has had a mixed start to life in Paris and speculation abounds about his future despite only joining the team past year.

After Neymar left Barca for PSG in the summer, the Calatan giants bought Ousmane Dembele in August before signing Coutinho in January as they sought to replace the influential forward.

A serious back injury saw him miss the infamous 7-1 demolition job by Germany in the semi-finals - but he sees World Cup success as his priority for 2018.
