However, they haven't wasted much time finding his replacement as they've signed veteran wideout Danny Amendola from their AFC East rivals, the New England Patriots.

Amendola's market was cooking earlier this offseason, to the point where it had an early appearance that he'd be priced out of New England.

Terms of the deal with the Dolphins were not immediately available.

He took pays cuts the last three seasons after signing a long-term deal after Wes Welker left in 2012. Obviously, the Patriots' best offer wasn't in the ballpark.

He's coming off a decent 2017 regular season where he had 61 catches for 659 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

He then had 26 catches for 348 yards and two touchdowns in three games during the postseason, including eight catches and 152 yards in the dramatic Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was also as tough as anyone in the locker room.

Amendola has been with the Pats since 2013.

As for New England's receivers heading into 2018, they have Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman (who should be back after missing the 2017 season), Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Malcolm Mitchell under contract.

Amendola should be able to play a prominent role in Miami.

The Patriots are losing one of their biggest playoff performers.
