"That's what made me teary-eyed", Evoni said.

Evoni works as a waitress in a Waffle House in La Marque, Texas, to save money for her college tuition.

She's been working there since graduating high school, saving up for college, KTRK reported. Amid clanking plates, a sizzling grill and customers on the go, an elderly man timidly asked Williams to cut his ham.

But on March 3rd what she did for a sick elderly customer was captured in a photo that went viral. This may seem small but to him, I'm sure it was huge.

Recently Charpentier has been experiencing muscle weakness in his hands.

Wolf told KHOU, "It was so busy in here, and she actually took the time to stop and hear what he had to say instead of walking past him". "It just came from the heart", Williams said.

Witnessing the heartrending scene, a patron named Laura Wolf was so touched by the young woman's gesture she took a picture of Williams assisting the partially disabled man and shared it on Facebook. Texas Southern University has reportedly assigned a counselor to help Williams begin her degree, KHOU reported.

The City honored William's good deed by giving her her own day on Thursday.

In the end, Williams said that her caring decision to help cut Charpentier's food was nothing special and that she'd do it any day.

That's not it. The act of kindness also drew attention of Texas Southern University, which presented her with a $16,000 scholarship at the proclamation. "It's something I would do any other day".
