OnePlus has announced the Android 8.1 Oreo support via the OxygenOS Open Beta 6 for OnePlus 5 users with additional new features and bug fixes.

The number of Android flagships running Oreo at all is already slim, but those using Android 8.1 are even fewer.

OnePlus brings out a new beta program for OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones. You will find this kind of feature with wearable bands and also with gestures included with Samsung devices.

Once the.zip file is copied to the phone, the user has to reboot their OnePlus 5T into recovery mode. However, if you are already on a Beta build, then the device will receive an OTA update. As a part of the gaming mode, the smartphone gets new optimizations for immersive gaming experience and these optimizations include pausing adaptive brightness, power saving, and notifications blocking. OnePlus has rolled out its Open Beta 4 software package for the OnePlus 5T, as well as Open Beta 6 for the OnePlus 5. When users operated this newly introduced beta version they were surprised to see a much-improved version of Fruit Phone X-like gesture navigation in their OnePlus smartphones. This open beta brings the company's latest devices up to date with Android 8.1. Users can now pick calls by raising the phone to their ears.

Finally, the update has brought some new clock faces for the ambient display. There's also a new "global roaming solution", however OnePlus has not detailed what this solution might be. The company is known for taking user feedback strongly, and issues many of its updates and software-based features based on requests by users. OnePlus hasn't said how many betas there will be before the stable version rolls out, but where this is the sixth beta, it should be rolling out pretty soon. The OnePlus switch feature helps to migrate application data, allowing you to switch between devices seamlessly.
