Air Canada has been hit by a system wide glitch that is reportedly affecting the check-in process at airports across Canada

Several airports across the country reported delays and system issues with Air Canada.

Due to a malfunction with Air Canada's system, passengers are unable to check in and drop off baggage.

Winnipeg Airports Authority said flights have been affected so far at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport on Monday. People carry luggage at Pearson International Airport in Toronto on December 20, 2013.

"We're now experiencing an interruption at our customer Contact Centres and".

Donna called NEWS 1130, telling us she's asked airline staff, but aside from saying they'll look after their passengers, not more is being offered.

"We don't have a time frame as of yet", said Badejo.

Customers travelling today should be sure to check the status of their flight and check-in online at www.aircanada.com prior to going to the airport to avoid delays. The carrier apologized for the inconvenience and resolved the issue in a couple of hours. "Thank you for your patience", reads a tweet from the airline.

However, the outage is affecting Air Canada travellers everywhere, not just at YVR.
