Android P Developer Preview: Notch Support, Notification Improvements

Google Pixel 2XL

Google Lens is a feature from Google that lets you identify object easily by a picture of it. A lot of Pixel 2 XL users reported malfunctioning proximity sensors on their smartphones.

You can check the availability of the March Android security update on your eligible Pixel or Nexus device by going to Settings System updates.

Over the past few weeks, we have been seeing Google test out new Smart Reply features.

In the beginning, Google Lens was made available only to Pixel users, but before Lens, Google Goggles was an early app version and it was first released previous year for Pixel users exclusively too. Lens will be all too happy to oblige though it's just that the feature isn't fool proof at all times.

Google has patched a serious Android bug that could allow remote attackers to execute malicious code on devices running the software.

If the menu card is in a foreign language, Google Lens can also translate it into English or your mother tongue (select global languages).

Having announced the Android P Developer Preview a week before everyone thought it would, Google has also laid out a timeline on the Android Developer's website that shows the planned progression to the public release of the new Android software.

Beyond these new features, Android P naturally comes with myriad optimizations, security improvements and efficiency increases. Given how quickly dual-lens cameras are becoming a standard on high-end flagship smartphones, it makes sense that the Android team would work on this aspect.

Since we'll be seeing numerous Android devices in the coming months launching with a notch of some kind, it makes sense for Google to include support in Android P. Google's oversight will hopefully give users a better experience if their phone has a display with a notch. Features like Google Assistant and Google Lens are the next generation of innovations in the present century. This allows users to jump on the train now and get to work. It even stores contact information by simply scanning a hard copy business card. Google will most probably roll out an update soon to address all the issues pertaining to the battery such as poor backup and overheating delinquent.

Be warned, this is a lengthy and complicated process that will require you to erase all of the data on your device.
