The SANCHI tanker was transporting 140,000 tons of gas condensate when it collided with the Hong Kong CF Cristal cargo ship, 290 kilometers east of the Yangtze River in the East China Sea. The ship sank before 5 p.m. (4 a.m. EST), CCTV said.
Meanwhile, China's State Oceanic Administration is expanding the range of its monitoring to "quickly ascertain the spread and drift of overflowing oil" from the boat. The tanker was carrying 136,000 tonnes of ultra-light crude but Chinese officials say there is no major slick.
The body of one crew member was found three or four miles from the tanker two days after the collision.
All 21 Chinese crew members of the Crystal, which was carrying grain from the USA, have been rescued.
The network said rescuers were prevented from entering the crew living quarters by temperatures as high as 192 degrees.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Iran's Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei called for mobilization of all facilities to help rescue oil tanker crew members at the earliest, IRNA reported.
The salvage team also recovered the voyage data recorder, or black box, from the bridge, before leaving the vessel less than half an hour after boarding because the wind had shifted and "thick toxic smoke" had complicated the operation.

That was the fourth time this year West Virginia was held under 40% and it was their worst shooting performance of the season. An in-your-space squad that feeds off turnovers forced only three in the second-half when Huggins tried 1-3-1 and 2-3 zones.
