Got Batteries? Power Outage Stalls CES Gadget Show

Okay, how about every light bulb in the Las Vegas Convention Center?
"For two and a half hours it was a reboot", Lauren said.
No expo in the world relies on power more than CES so it was particularly embarrassing when it was plunged into darkness yesterday.
The Las Vegas Convention Center experienced a power outage due to rain starting around 11:14AM PT. Security evacuated most visitors from the affected halls during the outage. Access will be limited until power is fully restored.
They go on to say "We encourage you to visit other open show areas" - however the largest hall, with the biggest companies in it remains in the dark.
Despite being a convention dedicated to incredible (and sometimes very bizarre) upcoming technology, the Consumer Electronics Show is subject to power loss like anything else. The power outrage, caused by an error with fairly rudimentary electronics, is ironic considering the wealth of next-generation technology exhibited throughout the event.
"A preliminary assessment indicates that condensation from heavy rainfall caused a flashover on one of the facility's transformers", said a statement from the Consumer Technology Association, which runs the event.
Technology brands including Intel, IBM, ISPN and Texas Instruments were quick to jump onto the #CESblackout hashtag, with many taking a cheeky communications approach to the situation. Even still, at least the power was restored shortly thereafter.
Regardless of the difficulties that the annual convention seems to be facing this year, companies and tech giants continue to be thrilled with the overall theme, with smart lights and speakers soaring to popularity. "Don't miss a moment with #HUAWEIMATE10Pro and its outstanding lowlight photography camera".
