Rahul Gandhi has indicated his readiness to launch an intense campaign for the Karnataka Assembly elections, as he had done in Gujarat past year. "That is Hindutva", Mr Siddaramaiah told reporters after a meeting with Congress president here to discuss the party's preparations for the Karnataka assembly polls, which are likely to be held in April-May.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the upcoming Assembly polls in the state would be a battle between two ideologies - communalism and secularism. Gandhi is scheduled to launch the first leg of his party's poll campaign in Karnataka on 10 February.
"Therefore, the chances of winning are very high and I am confident that the party will come back to power again", he said.
Referring to the statement made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against RSS, BJP and Bajrang Dal, Mr. Anant Kumar said Mr. Siddaramaiah does not know constitutional fundamentals. "That will not work".
Union Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Anant Kumar said it is regrettable that All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi and Congress spokespersons are trying to politicise the issue concerned with the Supreme Court judges' press meet.
"I am also a Hindu, but a humane Hindu". Similarly, other parties are also up to some mischief or the other. Hindutva is a political connotation of Savarkar and Hinduism is what Gandhi and Vivekananda preached.
