Chinese company copies Samsung Frame TV at CES 2018

This is the heart and soul of the new Wall TV from the company and Samsung is promising that it will be part of the "screen of the future". In fact, the manufacturer called it a "world's first" during its unveiling at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Last Vegas. Dubbed as "The Wall", the huge screen is comprised ironically of a rather massive array of MicroLEDs. We were told as the 2017 year ended, by none other than IHS Markit, that OELD TVs had shipped 133% ahead of last year's figures - not much of a leap really, from an already low figure. Not because we don't want to, but because Samsung simply isn't ready to reveal that information. According to Samsung: "Users can add or remove modules to make their TV bigger or smaller, in any configuration, removing previous limitations on screen size, with zero impact on the performance of the display".

Not only is it the largest, highest resolution OLED panel ever made - but it's also using the best TV tech on the market right now, so you can take a guess at just how good it looks.

However, unlike OLED, the Micro LED tech of the gargantuan Wall TV doesn't have quite so many limitations on peak brightness.

Because each LED can turn on or off individually, MicroLED has the potential for infinite contrast, just like OLED TVs.

Samsung QUHD 4K CES 2018

LG OLED technology has created a new high-end category of displays that delivers an awe-inspiring picture with flawless blacks and incredible color, even from wide viewing angles, unlike any LCD/LED display.

So there you have it, next-generation electro-QLED technology has finally arrived and so far its specs indicate something that could blow both current LCD TVs and the best that OLED offers out of the water, if only we can soon start seeing more normal-sized versions of this monster TV on the market.

Perhaps the only real competitor when it comes to size are projection TVs. OLED reached 270,000 shipment units in November as falling prices pushed the sweet spot purchases around 55-inches and above, offering genuine UHD and 4K down into the budget range...

Electronics giant (and consummate Pink Floyd fans) Samsung have unveiled - a truly big 146-inch 4K television called The Wall.
