Sensex, Nifty End in Green After Falling Following SC Judges Press Conference

India's stock exchanges set new records with the Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opening at new record highs on 12 January 2018. The NSE Nifty50 was 0.14 per cent down at 10,636.

Stocks suffered some losses in the afternoon after four Supreme Court judges raised concerns over administration of the top court.

For Infosys, the IT major is expected to report a profit for the quarter at Rs 3,609 crore, down 3.14 percent compared to Rs 3,726 crore in previous quarter, according to an average of estimates of analysts polled by CNBC-TV18.

Major Sensex gainers on Friday were: ICICI Bank, up 2.63 per cent at Rs 317.60; Maruti Suzuki, up 1.27 per cent at Rs 9,460.30; ONGC, up 1.26 per cent at Rs 200.25; HDFC, up 1.17 per cent at Rs 1,761.25; and Reliance Industries, up 1.02 per cent at Rs 946.75. Refiners advanced on the back of weaker oil prices.

As per provisional data, domestic institutional investors had bought shares worth Rs 770.02 crore, while FIIs sold equities to the tune of Rs 623.63 crore yesterday.

The BSE Mid-cap and BSE Small-cap indices were up 0.26% and 0.75%, respectively.

Indian equity indices opened on a positive note crossing 34,000 mark, while Nifty was above 10,600 levels after Wall Street hits record high.
