The Indian Army and the government are discussing ways to revive a $500 million order to buy Spike anti-tank guided missiles from Israel's state-owned defense contractor Rafael, according to military chief Bipin Rawat.

Following all-night negotiations, Israeli Cabinet ministers on Friday morning unanimously approved a 2019 state budget of NIS 397.4 billion ($117 billion), which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised would ensure the political stability the government needed to survive until the end of its term late next year. The DRDO missiles are yet to be tested and will not be ready till 2022, which could hit India's operational capabilities in the interim, Rawat said.

The deal's reported reactivation comes ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to India next week.

Rafael said that it "regrets the decision" but will continue to cooperate as part of the Prime Minister's delegation to India this month. His visit comes nearly 15 years after the first visit by the then prime minister Ariel Sharon in 2003.

Netanyahu will be the second Israeli premier to visit India after diplomatic ties were established between the two sides in 1992.

Netanyahu flies to India on Sunday where he's paying a reciprocal visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mostly to promote business ties.

India's ties with the Jewish state have been in focus as India voted at the United Nations General Assembly last month against the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Sparking worldwide condemnation, U.S. President Donald Trump recognized, on December 6, Jerusalem as Israel's capital by announcing the relocation of the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

This is unedited, unformatted feed from the Press Trust of India wire. "The visit will focus on the progress made between India and Israel since Prime Minister Modi visited Israel last summer". He will also participate in the Indo-Israeli CEO Forum in Delhi.

"Sometimes, countries can not agree to each other's requests". The two leaders will also be witnessing several innovative technologies in the field of water, agriculture and health at iCreate and visit a Centre of Excellence.
