HARD TIMES Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad outside a CBI court in Ranchi on Wednesday
On the occasion of the makar Sakaranti RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav will get special food dahi Chura but no visitors are allowed to meet him in the jail.Lalu is serving 3.5 years jail term in the relation to the Bihar fodder scam. "Who will now give massages to Lalu in jail?"
The court convicted Lalu Prasad and 15 others on December 23 in the case relating to the multi-million-rupee scam. While the ruling JD (U) and the BJP have cried foul, sources said that the timing of the leak about Lalu Yadav's "jail luxury" is meant to have an adverse impact on his bid to seek bail from the Jharkhand high court in the next few days.
The RJD jumped to its leader's defence, insisting that the presence of Mahto and Madan Yadav in jail was "conicidental".
The JD-U latched on to the news report to attack the RJD leader, with its spokesman Neeraj Kumar issuing a statement in Patna saying, "Lalu is a person with feudal mindset who could make his party workers go to any extent to serve his personal interest". Presently, Lalu is lodged inside the Birsa Munda jail. Lalu said Makar Sankranti was round the corner and requested for bail.
The sentences range from three-and-a-half-years to seven years imprisonment.
An FIR was filed against Mohan and Laxman in an alleged case of snatching and assaulting on December 23 in the Lower Bazar Police Station in Ranchi. But Madan Yadav and Lakshman Mahto got into the same jail two hours before the RJD chief walked in on December 23, said police sources.
In a huge setback to the RJD, its supremo Lalu Prasad was on January 6 sentenced to three-and-a-half-years jail in a fodder scam case.
"The jailor says that only 3 people can meet me in a week".
On September 30, 2013, Lalu was held guilty in another case of illegal withdrawal of Rs 37.70 crore from the Chaibasa treasury and sentenced for five years.
