Oprah Winfrey, other celebs with Montecito homes share images of mud damage

Ellen DeGeneres shares a heart-to-heart with her audience on Thursday, addressing the catastrophic damage in her Montecito, CA neighborhood caused first by the largest wildfire in state history, and now mudslides and flash flooding.

Prior to hopping on the phone with Oprah, Ellen, visibly upset during the show, told her audience: "After everything we've been through I think a lot of people thought they were just being overly cautious, but exactly what they feared happened". A 14-year-old girl was rescued from the rubble of a home devastated by a mudslide in the Montecito area.

Ellen said her father lived a full life and he was a great man.

She further explained he was a Christian Scientist his whole life and never had medicine or went to a doctor. I never had a vaccination. And it made me so proud to live there. Love your show Ellen watch it every day!

She also revealed that her father "was very amusing", she said that she beileves her brother, Vance and she "got our sense of humor from him". "There was not one bone of judgment in his body", she continued. He was very amusing ...

'It wasn't unexpected. I was able to say goodbye. "When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me", she added. "Pretty unbelievable. ... I got a rainbow before he died". "And I am blessed and I am going to do whatever I can for the rest of the community", she said, praising the firefighters for their efforts during the natural disasters and resolving to rebuild the tight-knit community.

DeGeneres, who is originally from Louisiana, remembered that growing up, her dad only took her on one family vacation.

DeGeneres, 59, and her wife Portia Di Rossi, 44, were evacuated from their home in Montecito on Sunday as deadly mudslides cause huge damage to the neighbourhood.

'He loved this business.

She also posted a few old photos of her with her father on Instagram. I'm devastated for the families who lost loved ones. Then, she looked back and saw a rainbow shining above her studio.

"I'm so sorry for your loss".
