Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In Quentin Tarantino's New Movie

Leonardo DiCaprio

After being courted for several months, Leonardo DiCaprio will star in Quentin Tarantino's untitled Charles Manson movie, sources confirmed to Variety.

The last time Leonardo and the two-time Oscar victor collaborated was in 2012 on Tarantino's critically-acclaimed western, which amassed $425.4M at the worldwide box office. It is set during the time of the Manson murder spree that terrorized Los Angeles in the 1960s and 70s.

Previous reports suggested Tarantino was eyeing Margot Robbie, who co-starred with DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, to play Sharon Tate. The pair previously worked together on Tarantino's bloody western, Django Unchained. Margot is clearly enjoying her steady rise to fame while she is now doing press for her critically acclaimed film, I, Tonya, where she plays former ice skater Tonya Harding. Although Tarantino's work hasn't always been loved by The Academy, he has already won two Oscars to date for his screenwriting. We'll have to wait, mind, as the film's still in production and not due to hit cinemas until 2019 - the studio has apparently set a 9 August release date, to chillingly coincide with the 50th anniversary of the murders of Tate and her friends by the Manson family.

Tarantino and DiCaprio are partnering up once again. A deal for Tom Cruise to co-star is also being pursued, a part that was reportedly passed on by Brad Pitt.

Leonardo DiCaprio has been cast in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming ninth movie.

The movie, which will be Tarantino's first without Harvey Weinstein's involvement and will be released through Sony Pictures, is said to be similar to Pulp Fiction in that it has multiple interwoven story strands.
