CES 2018: Blackout at tech's biggest show

CES 2018 A schedule of events

The company is at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas thanks to Kodak. For the first time in several years, Google has planted the flag at CES with a large booth of its own, which GBH Insights research chief Daniel Ives attributes to the growing importance of software that can be used to manage other internet-connected devices.

One of the word's largest gatherings for the technology industry, the Las Vegas-based convention will see more than 170,000 people attend, looking to see the latest innovations from the likes of Intel, Samsung and Sony.

"We predict that Amazon's Alexa will be more pervasive than ever, cropping up in numerous device categories, including cars, computers, fridges, lights, radios, TVs and more", he said. "Those of us who produce events must do better too".

While the description of his keynote focuses on the power of technology and Intel's latest advances, Krzanich is also expected to address two key concerns that arose last week - the "Meltdown" vulnerability and his personal sale of stock shortly before news of the vulnerability went public.

The central hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center is evacuated after a power outage during CES International, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, in Las Vegas.

Artificial Intelligence- AI will also be an area of show and discussion.

In addition to cutting-edge consumer technologies, this year's CES attendees can also - as usual - expect to see offbeat, concept, and odd innovations.

Introducing Blackout™: The biggest thing to hit #CES2018 since #5G.

Scatter Brothers Productions is taking their virtual reality product to one of the most popular technology conventions in the world.

It will be held at three different locations in Las Vegas, Nevada, dubbed Tech East, Tech West, and Tech South.

CES is historically home to technology advancements and prototypes from the likes of Google, Samsung and Silicon Valley start ups, however this year commercial road transport solutions aim to steal the show. Companies will represent gaming, automotive, health and wellness, sports, manufacturing, home and family industries among many others.

CES's AI obsession will also spread beyond consumer devices and into visions of smart cities and, of course, driverless cars. This is the CES epicenter for the advertising, content, marketing and entertainment communities, hosting a variety of C-Space activities, including conference sessions, networking events, exhibits and hospitality suites.
