WWE Rumors Roundup for Week of January 11 Ahead of Royal Rumble

WWE Champion AJ Styles on Smack Down Live

Holly last wrestled for WWE at WrestleMania 25 in 2009.

As everyone and their grandmother assumes, Roman Reigns will face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship in the main event. However, one of the most intriguing aspects of the women's match has been who exactly will appear in the bout.

The event is receiving considerable coverage not only in the sports media but also in mainstream news outlets, owing to its historical significance, as the first-ever All-Women's Royal Rumble match will take place on the show. We know there will be 30 superstars in both matches, but what other similarities will we see in the women's Royal Rumble match?

Surprise entrants have become a huge factor and anticipated moment in the Royal Rumble match, and now the same will be able to be said for the women's match.

PWInsider has reported that former Women's Hardcore champion Molly Holly and former Divas champion Michelle McCool could both be surprise entrants in the women's Royal Rumble on January 28. During a recent interaction with SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair on Twitter, McCool indicated that she would be interested in returning for a match after retiring from the squared circle in 2011. The women's Rumble is set to consist of 30 competitors, just like the men's, but there aren't 30 females now on the main roster. Next Tuesday's show will feature Xavier Woods vs. Jinder Mahal with the victor going on to the finals at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, against the victor of Roode vs. Rawley.
