Iranian media are reporting that a magnitude 5.1 quake has jolted the country's southern province of Kerman. In Baghdad, people felt a quake shake the Iraqi capital, followed by what felt like aftershocks. Many people are still living in temporary homes and tents.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Iran is located on major seismic faults and experiences nearly a quake per day on average. In 2003, a 6.6-magnitude quake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people.
Late Thursday afternoon, another 4.8 magnitude quake struck in Kerman, according to the USGS.
