Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered Sails to PS4 and Xbox One on March 20

Assassin's Creed Rogue

This morning developer and publisher Ubisoft officially announced that a remastered version of the game will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the very near future.

Introducing Assassin's Creed Rogue, the darkest chapter in the Assassin's Creed franchise yet.

Ubisoft is developing a 4K remaster of 2014's Assassin's Creed Rogue.

We first heard about a remastered version of Assassin's Creed: Rogue on three different Italian retail websites.

Starring Shay Patrick Cormac, players explore the icy North Atlantic, the bustling streets of New York City and a river valley. Rogue Remastered will run in 4K on the beefier consoles with better environment rendering, visual effects, and textures than the original PS4 and Xbox One models. The game takes place in North America around the 18th century. Assassins Creed Rogue is notable for its ties in to both Assassins Creed 3 and for leading right up to the events in Assassins Creed Unity. After a risky mission goes tragically wrong, Shay turns his back on the Assassins who attempt to end his life. After joining the Knights Templar, the Brotherhood sets out to kill him, so players get to spend the majority of the game hunting down Assassins in what is a legitimate departure from the usual schtick the series is known for. There will also be special bonus packs included such as the Master Templar and Explorer packs that come with extra costumes, and weapons, along with Bayek's outfit from Assassin's Creed: Origins. The game's American frontier setting will no doubt remind many fans of Assassin's Creed III - another game that's potential was compromised by technical issues - but Rogue actually has more in common with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

You can pick up the newly-remastered version when it drops March 20.
