Powered by Intel True VR, the live coverage of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang, South Korea, will be available to authenticated viewers with Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream with compatible iOS and Android devices, NBC Olympics announced Tuesday.

Britain won four medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics, equalling the 1924 haul from Chamonix, but the Sochi haul could rise following the Russian doping scandal.

The team smashed their own targets, winning 147 medals.

ParalympicsGB won six medals at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, and they have been given a target of at least seven medals.

And with triple short track speed skating world champion Elise Christie and reigning Olympic skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold also set to compete, Britain will possess genuine medal potential in an array of sports.

Slalom specialist Dave Ryding finished second in the Kitzbuhel World Cup past year and has recorded top 10 results this season and in cross country skiing Andrew Musgrave just missed out on a medal at the World Championships. Shelley Rudman took silver in Turin in 2006 and Amy Williams gold four years later in Vancouver.

"For Team GB it is about more than just the medals, our best ever Games will also be determined by those athletes who record personal best performances in their sports". However, this is a particularly stretching target given the high risks, low margins for error across a range of events we have medal opportunities in, and in some events more unpredictable outdoor terrains that our athletes will need to skilfully navigate.

In addition, NBC Olympics will offer VR replays of all events previously livestreamed; one daily 360-degree video of a sport not available in VR the previous day; and packaged highlights from the day before.

UK Sport has more than doubled investment in winter sports since Sochi, putting up a total of £32m over the four years leading up to the 2018 Games.
