Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom Benue State Governor

Mr. Ortom said he had informed President Muhammadu Buhari of the group's role in the killing of dozens of people over the last one week, and had disclosed the location of the attackers.

According to him, he must understand the concept of cattle colonies before he could support such move which the FG was planning to establish in the state as part of move to halt killings by herdsmen.

To me, he is completely confused and don't know what to do about it. I have spoken to him that those are the people I know and I have documentary evidence against them.

Ortom further refuted report by the Inspector general of Police, Ibrahim Idris that Benue attacks was as a result of communal clash.

"Benue State should not be part of this".

Fayose, who urged all men of good conscience to condemn government's alleged nonchalant attitude to the issue, added: "What is happening in Benue and other states in the North Central is an issue that the President must have to take decisive steps".

Ortom had said the suspected militia that attacked the state, killing about 50 persons, are known, and that "they are in Tonga, that is where these people are camped and coming to attack people". Gololo is a liar. He stays somewhere and makes allegations. "He has not come out to justify what he said". The premises is available for people who want to ranch their cattle to access land and begin to ranch. Today, relatively, we were peaceful until this unfortunate incident happened.

Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress says it is aggrieved at how innocent citizens were being hacked to death in Benue State and elsewhere around the country.

The trade union said it was regrettable that Nigeria had been made a laughing stock in the comity of nations on account of the Federal Government's inefficient management of herdsmen killings. We never had killings like these under previous administrations. These people gave this threat right from the day we signed this (anti-grazing) bill into law - on 22 of May 2017.
