Her voice will forever be across my heart.

One Chicago woman is using tattoo technology to replay the voice of her loved one who passed away past year.

"About a month ago while working on one of my songs, I started to observe the sound waves on the screen and I thought that it would be great for me to get a tattoo of one with my grandmother's voicemail", she added.

Sharing incredible footage of her unique tattoo in action on Instagram she explained: "As some of you may know, my grandma meant the world to me".

She tells her granddaughter: "You should be up and awake because it's your birthday, you rock-headed little kid". Using an app, people can scan the tattoo and hear audio.whether it be a song, a bark of an old dog or a past loved one's voice.

"She called me a little past midnight to wish me happy birthday and to tell me that she loved me".

Listening back to a voicemail on her iPhone, Morris used sound wave technology to convert the message into waves.

Some things are permanent whether they're tatted in ink or not.

And while it might look like the app is literally scanning the skin, it's not quite like that.

According to a well-informed Twitter user, the application isn't exactly reading the message from her skin, but rather "stores an image of the waveform" and plays it from an audio file.

"This is literally my grandma looking out for me", she later tweeted.

"It really made me happy to see what a positive impact my tattoo has had on others".
