'Overwatch's' Winter Wonderland Event Returns Next Week

It's the holiday season, and Overwatch is celebrating adequately. Like Overwatch's other seasonal events, the second helping of Winter Wonderland will be a healthy mix of new and old.

Starting on December 12, Overwatch players can revel in some fun-filled, and snowy activities when the Winter Wonderland event returns.

New Legendary skins will arrive, with Kaplan teasing specific ones for Hanzo, Junkrat and Roadhog. However, the Black Forest map will also be decked up for the holiday season as well.

While Winter Wonderland is a revival of last year's event, Blizzard is bringing some major new additions. Another new mode will also be added called Yeti Hunt, where a team of five Meis lead the charge against an ultra-powerful Yeti Winston and must hunt him down before he becomes unstoppable.

Aside from cosmetics, Mei's Snowball Offensive will also return from previous year, which pits two teams of Meis against each other in a snowball fight-style conflict. You can once again enjoy the Global Snowball Offensive mode that has a team of Meis throwing balls of fresh powder at one another, but you can now play that mode on the Black Forest map as well. When the Yeti is defeated, the group of Meis wins, whereas if a certain number of Meis die, the Winston player wins.

"I know a lot of you are thinking it sounds kind of ridiculous and kind of silly, and I'm here to tell you it absolutely is", Kaplan said.

All in all, Mei's Yeti Hunt sounds like a blast. "But the point of some of these seasonal brawls are just to be fun to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time". The Winter Wonderland exclusive brawl, Mei's Snowball Offensive, will take place on that map this year.
