Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Getting Versus Mode On December 8, 2017

Mario + Rabbids versus mode brings a new type of battle on December 8

Ubisoft has announced that Versus Mode will be arriving for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle tomorrow, December 8th, as a free update for all owners of the game on Nintendo Switch.

The new local versus mode lets two players pit their wits against each other on the same screen, using two separate Nintendo Switch controllers, or one pair of split Joy-cons. With only three actions per turn, you'll have to plan your moves carefully, as a character who leaves his position might not be able to return before the enemy team has a chance to strike.

All eight characters will be available for players to choose from; they'll be the "beefy upgraded versions", Ubisoft explains. However, a number of item boxes scattered around the map can grant you extra attacks, ability uses, or movements, as well as new power-ups such as damage bonuses and increased chances of your attacks having super effects. "You may be accustomed to moving, attacking and using techniques for each of your heroes during every turn in campaign and co-op, but versus is a different story".

Overall, Ubisoft says these Versus mode matches are created to pass quickly, with users having the additional option to set limits of 7 or 10 turns in addition to time limits.

While I wish this update also came with online play, it's cool to see games like Mario + Rabbids getting support in the form of free little updates like this.
